Shift Windows to the new storage device?
Hello, I recently upgraded my system with a faster SSD and am planning to transfer my Windows installation from the old HDD to the new drive. I’m curious about the best method and whether everything will function properly afterward. I considered using the standard installer, but I’m worried about potential issues. I’ve read mixed reviews on other forums, so I want reliable advice. Thank you for your help!
You can duplicate the drive using Macrium Reflect or reinstall Windows onto the SSD, separately, and then transfer all data from the HDD to a backup site before performing a clean (diskpart > clean override) or formatting the HDD and relocating the files back.
Norton GHOST shares the pros and cons. The plus is everything runs smoothly, but the downside is all the old features are removed—though on an SSD it won’t be noticeable.
