Hello, your confusion about Asus driver installations is understandable. It seems the latest Intel MEI drivers for your Asus Maximus VII Hero are scattered across multiple files without clear labeling. There appear to be around seven different installers, none of which provide guidance. For someone trying to fit the chipset, this can be quite challenging. Ideally, a single download from Asus with all the necessary drivers in one package would simplify the process, similar to MSI Live Update 6. It would be helpful if they offered a straightforward download option directly from their website.

I would place the main AsusSetup.exe first, then the version in the 64-bit directory as well (provided your CPU supports it). If there’s any coding logic in Asus, they should perform the necessary checks to ensure stability. I understand they struggle with organizing installer files, though. You might want to review the driver installation process on Windows 10 builds here: https://twitter.com/CraftyPirate/status/...1388894208

It feels quite careless not to have clear direction. They just pile together useful components and send them as a single download package...

I understand your concerns about Asus and their warranty offerings. They do provide a 5-year warranty on some boards, but they haven't offered an on-demand BIOS that would unlock the SATA password for SSD hardware encryption. That feature is what Samsung markets as "AES encryption," which they proudly advertise on their packaging. This is the main issue I'd raise if I approached JJ directly. Asrock can send you an email request, but they won't provide it unless you ask. Cleon from Asrock has been pushing this topic more recently—he’d love to see a direct discussion between him and JJ. Personally, I might need to switch my next build if their warranty updates include this functionality.

I set up the base driver and rely on Windows Update for patches. I haven't encountered any problems with this approach.
