letting the cooler compress it reduces the chance of trapped air pockets. risk increases where thermal paste isn't applied evenly. hand-spreading carries a higher likelihood of bubbles forming. tutorials online recommend choosing the right method based on your CPU model—3rd gen AMD tends to need more paste due to widespread die distribution, while Intel works well with pea-shaped paste.

Both options work well. Just ensure you don’t use too much of it unless the variance stays within 1-2%.

I usually use kryonaut because it forms a dense paste. The idea that air bubbles can survive the pressure in a cooler is completely false.

I received the same paste with a small spreader included. Although I haven’t tried it, I let the cooler spread it on my own, and it worked well for me. It’s all about personal taste.
