Without compression your files would grow to multiple gigabytes each minute; ShadowPlay reduces them to 50Mbps MP4 format.

they are extremely compressed, and you can adjust the bitrate as well; the maximum is around 130, though (or 50 on older cards)

AMD DVR is still in Beta. It might work for Shadowplay, but I'm not sure yet. R9 290 is now around $340, though I already bought MSI R9 280.
