Hello,
I'm dealing with a puzzling issue that's really getting to me. When I'm recording using shadowplay, opening the chat window in TF2 or L4D2 causes the video to skip frames and pause until the chat is closed. The recording remains flawless when I keep the chat box closed. Video of the issue: https://pomf2.lain.la/f/jpimocbl.webm
The recording is perfect with no skipped frames if I don't interact with the chat. Other games are completely unaffected, but this only happens in these two engine-based titles when I press the chat button. This problem has remained consistent across all Windows versions, driver updates, and RAM upgrades. I've tested various Nvidia settings, but it still doesn't resolve. It doesn't matter if the game runs in windowed, fullscreen, borderless mode or any other configuration. I've even downgraded my GPU drivers and GeForce Experience, but nothing helps.
I'm writing this after nearly three years of attempts to fix it. It's frustrating because this simple chatbox completely disrupts my recordings, and no one else on the internet seems to have encountered this issue. Do you have any suggestions or solutions I could try?
My system details:
Intel i5-9600k (no OC)
Nvidia RTX 2060 (no OC)
32gb DDR5 RAM
ASRock z390 pro4 (latest chipset drivers)

just halt the recording when capturing.
or switch to a more suitable video capture tool.
what makes you think recording chats in-game is important?
and why would you need three years of the same two games?

nvidia introduced a privacy feature some time ago that altered the default behavior of geforce, preventing it from recording the desktop out of privacy concerns. previously, people without proper knowledge would accidentally stream private information. now, you need to manually turn it on before it happens. it seems the chatbox activates this safeguard.
