I possess a UDMSE featuring several downlinks including two XG6-POEs, two enterprise 24s, and two XG24s. Because DAC cables are limited in length, I plan to use SFP+ fiber modules. There are both multimode and single-mode options available. My confusion lies with the fiber patch cables—I don’t want to mix SFP modules across switches and need a UACC-OM-SM-10G-S-2. On paper it appears as a single-mode duplex module. Regarding the patch cables, I see many choices. Can I connect multimode duplex cables into single-mode duplex modules? I have some switches that aren’t far from installation sites but still want the UACC-OM-SM-10G module. My goal is to install these modules uniformly across all switches regardless of distance. Are there any disadvantages with short runs if they’re meant for longer distances? Also, what type of fiber patch cables are compatible with these modules?

It offers better value compared to single mode. Choose OM4 grade; OM3 should suffice but the cost gap is minimal. You recently purchased pre-terminated fiber SFP+ cables from Amazon. The brand appears to be 10G Tech. They’re reasonably priced and function well with your Ubiquiti equipment.
