Hello, my PC is having a problem where certain games crash immediately after launching from the start menu. Once I interact with any of them, the system restarts without any error messages or a BSOD—just powers back on. Games affected: Baldur's Gate 3 (DX11 & Vulkan) – this issue began with it; CS2 Forza Horizon 5 3DMark Speedway Unigine Heaven (sometimes works, sometimes crashes); Rocket League, Minecraft, GTA 5, and browsers function normally. The key specs are: Ryzen 7 3700X (slightly overclocked but now stock), ASUS TUF 6950XT (originally undervolted and slightly overclocked but now running stock) – 23.10.2 32GB DDR4 @ 3200MHz, 2TB 970 Pro SSD, 700W PSU, 3440x1440 at 165Hz, plus two 1920x1080 displays (240Hz/144Hz).

I've tried several fixes: checking files in Steam, updating drivers, reinstalling drivers completely, removing and reinstalling ASUS Armor Crate (adjusting settings), disabling Process Lasso (caused past issues), and turning off background programs. So far, crashes mainly happen with FH5, while other games run fine.

My thoughts: it might be a temperature problem (no stress tests showed issues) or a corrupted DirectX file. There was a partial render error during BG3 playthrough—Windows possibly trying to push an update could be involved. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You seem unsure about handling the situation. If I had doubts about Windows being tampered with, I’d consider reinstalling it. It’s up to you whether to save your files or not.

I found a CORSAIR RM 750 from 2019 (my previous beQuiet PSU was 700W, I didn’t have the current one) that’s 750W now. What caught my attention was how it handled dropping the GPU power limit to 90% – one game that kept crashing suddenly stopped running after about three minutes. It seems the combined stress from CPU and GPU might be causing problems. Benchmarks ran smoothly, which is odd. I’m considering using my old 5700XT to test if it works better.

I set up the 5700XT and haven’t noticed any crashes. The performance boost is clear, but I’m still unsure about the root cause. @191x7 This helps identify the problem a little more, though I’m not sure what to do next.

It might stem from the PSU (bad, low voltage, or overheating/dirty), the power cords (specialized or from a different PSU), or the GPU (power supply issues or dust buildup).
