Yes, it can work. Using a second router connected via Ethernet jack can improve coverage on the opposite side of your home. Just ensure the router is placed appropriately for optimal signal reach.

You're right, that won't help. You'll need a Wi-Fi extender to improve the signal.

He intended to simply insert an Ethernet connection, but that won’t work since the WAN device is already linked to his current router.
