Several problems occur during GPU OCing for the GTX 1070 strix.
Hi everyone,
I just installed a new PC and wanted to share my setup:
Mobo: MSI Z170A MPOWER TITANIUM
Ram: GSkill, 16 gb, OC @ 3000mhz
CPU: Intel i7 6700k OC @ 4.4 Ghz
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-12S
PSU: Corsair RM750X
Storage: SanDisk X400 1tb SSD (just enough for now)
GPU: Asus ROG Strix gtx 1070 OC edition
I've been adjusting the GPU overclock settings. My best stable OC is as follows:
The memory supports overclocking well.
However, many users claim they can reach 2100-2150 MHz. I tried again and found:
Interesting – I now achieve a max boost clock of 2063, but my overall score drops in all areas. The benchmark runs smoothly until the boost clock exceeds +33, after which the test pauses briefly before continuing normally (like a game screen flicker).
This behavior reminds me of what happens when changing video resolution in a game – the screen briefly goes dark for less than a second.
I’m not sure what’s causing this, but it seems to lower the final score despite a higher boost clock. I expected the system to crash if the OC was too aggressive, but it’s not happening.
What could be the reason?
Thanks!
It's just causing instability and errors. Cards behave differently with an unstable OC. For instance, my current 970 won't artifact; instead it just drops the clocks very low, leading to huge stuttering and extremely low FPS. My old R9 280 would artifact well before any screen blanking occurred.
