I considered moving system images to an external HDD. It made me think about consolidating all Windows setups onto one drive—two desktops (7 and 8.1), two laptops (Vista and 8). Storing everything off-site would be easier later, especially if any system fails soon. A backup of the kids’ photos from when they were children would be handy in case of disaster. Long-term, re-imaging the system without an SSD felt straightforward, and during that process I wondered if the rescue disk simply selects an image without letting you pick. In short, could you store multiple machine images on one HDD?

Sure, just split the drive and confirm there’s sufficient space. I don’t know the exact PC version, but I use Disk Utility, which is a Mac app.
