In summary, my MBP from 2011 died recently. I upgraded to a Dell XPS 17 with a 17-inch display and installed an 8GB/512GB SSD setup, adding an RTX 2060 and an i7-10875H. I minimized RAM and SSD for smoother installation. I’m planning to use two PNY XLR8 1TB SSDs in RAID0, prioritizing speed over absolute reliability, since I already have spare drives in my Steam Box. I’m trying to find the right RAM for the XPS 17—specifically looking for a 1600 series from Kingston, given its low latency needs and support for max speeds. I want to know the chipset, whether XMP profiles are supported, if it’s capped at 2933MHz, and what the best 260-pin SODIMM size is for two 16GB modules. Back in 2011 I used a Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600 for my MBP, which matched its supported speeds. Thanks!
My expectations are low regarding your chances. Hackintosh has become increasingly difficult. Even years ago, it was nearly unfeasible on a laptop. Atom netbooks gained some popularity because many could be converted to work. As for the rest, I’m afraid I have no real knowledge. The internet might still hold some answers.
Yeah, I might skip it and go for an internal-made MacBook when they release one that supports game streaming well. Things are getting tough out there. It looks like the new Apple CPUs won’t even be ARM-based. Apple has its own special arm license where they use only certain parts of their design.
