Setup malfunction occurred abruptly System ceased functioning unexpectedly
I recently purchased a 4070 Super, replacing the RX 580. I have a three-monitor configuration: two monitors (1440p at 75Hz and 1080p at 60Hz) and a TV with 1080p at 60Hz. Everything functioned well with the RX 580 before, but now I’m experiencing problems. I switched to a new HDMI cable for the TV because the older one only had two ports, while the 580 had two. Initially, connecting all three worked perfectly—audio, video, everything was fine. After some adjustments in the TV’s settings, it still performed adequately. However, when I tried to switch to a different HDMI input for the TV, the picture quality dropped significantly. It seemed similar to what I got with the triple monitor setup on the RX 580.
Recently, I powered off my main monitor and the second one to watch something on the TV alone. I changed the HDMI source to see if that might have caused the issue. The display improved, matching the performance when using the triple monitor on the RX 580. But upon restarting, the main monitor stopped working entirely. It displayed a small box labeled as the third monitor in Windows settings, and when I tried to detect it, it vanished. In the Nvidia control panel, the option would keep flashing as an unchecked choice that disappeared after a second and then repeated itself.
I also tested reconnecting the TV to its original HDMI port with all three monitors active, but the problem persisted. Now I can only have two monitors connected at once. If I connect a third, the main monitor disconnects. Honestly, I’d prefer returning to the TV setup with fewer monitors, even though it means sacrificing some performance. I’ve searched extensively but haven’t found a clear solution.
