I'm setting up a PC to run antivirus and backup on my NAS b/c the NAS's integrated one stinks, it will be running windows 7 and I'm looking for a remote desktop application that can use the local network rather than the internet like chrome or ShowMyPC to access that PC from my main system. There is a gigabit link between them.

One of the VNC options should cover the costs.

I believe I can disable the internet features, but I don’t want to stress about online safety.

The issue lies with establishing a connection to the remote desktop server. This could be due to network problems, incorrect credentials, or firewall restrictions.

The original version requires Windows 7 PRO. I don’t have funds. It should not rely on the internet (my connection is slow).

This should work. As discussed earlier, configure firewall settings on the device to block internet access while permitting local network use. For example: http://superuser.com/questions/345758/ho...e-internet
