Hey! I own an ASRock B450m steel motherboard equipped with a Ryzen 5 3600 and 2x8GB DDR4 RAM. The main issue is that whenever I power off the PC, the BIOS restarts to defaults and the system fails to boot. At first, I tried reinserting the RAM sticks but didn’t fix it. I looked into possible fixes and found that some ASRock models require XMP support for successful booting. I set the BIOS to use only one RAM stick, enabled XMP, saved the changes, and then tried booting again—this time it worked and displayed the full 16GB of RAM. I ran some tests and everything seemed normal. When I shut down the PC again, it would power cycle several times before starting up. I attempted a CMOS reset and replaced the CMOS battery twice, but that didn’t help. I also performed a fresh Windows installation (cleared everything, wiped the drive, and reinstalled from USB), thinking it might be a software glitch, but it still didn’t resolve the problem. I tested each RAM stick individually in every slot, and it worked consistently. Edit: I should note that if you install two RAM sticks without XMP enabled, the system tends to keep power cycling briefly before booting. It functions perfectly when XMP is active.
