settings for stable overclock at 6600k
settings for stable overclock at 6600k
I'm just starting out on the forum but already familiar with computing. I currently have a 2500k OC'd to a stable 4.3ghz with air cooling on a Z68 Asus board. It's been working fine since 2012.
I also have a 6600k and an Asus z170-a in stock, planning to check what others are doing for stable overclocks using air cooling. The Gen 6 chips have been around for about a year, so I guess people have experimented with them.
My setup includes:
first gen cosmos case with 5 active fans
212 evo (current and to be transferred to the 6600k)
corsair tx750v2
Murdoc
The highest overclock I reached with my i5 6600k was 4.5GHz at 1.32VCore. It caused a lot of heat, which wasn't ideal, so I now settle for 4.0GHz at 1.160VCore. Much less heat is produced.
