I'll trust the numbers once I see real data.

Same here. It looks like Windows 7 is using most of the space on your SSD, isn't it? I've got Steam installed, but I moved the library to the HDD to free up room. Right now the SSD shows 71.6GB used out of 119GB total.

Windows typically occupies about 30 to 40 gigabytes of storage space.

There might be some options, though the download for version 8.1 could be around 20GB.

I think I’ll move to version 8.1 soon, currently running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. My installation is mostly empty except for Origin and Steam, with a couple of other utilities like Trend Micro Titanium.

Ensuring you start correctly really changes things for someone moving from version 7.

In short, you'll likely want a high-end graphics card to fully appreciate Star Citizen. Right now your setup is limited to a 720p display, but you're aiming for an Asus 144Hz 1080p monitor—either for Christmas or your birthday.

You don’t require a top-tier card to enjoy the game; just a decent one will get you the best performance. The big finish is expected around early 2016, so by then a GTX780 Ti might already be considered average.

A solid card exists that preserves your gameplay experience despite graphical adjustments. This issue often arises when enemies stop rendering in SWTOR during raids, even after optimizing settings—something you’ve likely faced before.

When evaluating graphics cards for maximum performance, prioritize VRAM capacity over model numbers. The price difference you noticed in the 700 series reflects the value of higher VRAM sizes.
