Setting up Windows 8.1 on an SSD using an external hard drive in a brand-new build
Hello! I understand you're setting up your first PC and want to use a Windows 8.1 installation from a USB drive on an SSD. You can transfer the OS to your SSD and boot directly from it. Follow these steps: connect your USB drive, install Windows 8.1 on it, then format the SSD with the correct file system (usually NTFS). After setup, boot from the USB and install the OS. Let me know if you need more details! Thank you for reaching out.
You should install the ISO on a device in a bootable format. The recommended method is using the Windows Media Creation Tool, available online. It allows you to write the ISO to a USB drive. Alternatively, you can burn the ISO to a disk using Windows itself.
I put in the 8.1 version from a USB drive, but I’m not getting internet access. The system warns it needs an updated network driver, yet I can’t locate the correct one. Have anyone helped before? I also tried cleaning my hard drive and reinstalling the OS, but the problem persists.
