I upgraded my PC with an SSD because I heard they perform better. Now I’m planning to reinstall Windows 8.1 onto the new drive. I want to know if this will work smoothly. After turning on the PC and choosing a factory reset, I installed my old programs on the HDD. Will everything function correctly or could there be problems? I’m new to SSDs, so I just want to confirm. Thanks in advance!

The SSD is entirely empty, meaning a factory reset isn't possible. You must install it anew using a Windows installation media.

It's the same as putting Windows on a solid-state drive.

Save your data, start from the USB/CD with the desired Windows version and set it up on the SSD.

The factory reset doesn’t decide the installation location. You’ll have to follow the provided link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windo...resh-media To create a DVD or USB, boot from it, and install on the SSD.

No, you won't need a Windows key for that.

Ensure the SSD is installed in the Hardware Manager before proceeding with this task.
