Setting up Windows 10
Setting up Windows 10
I installed W10 on my new SSD and had to restore it from scratch. It froze on the wait screen, so I reinstalled from USB with a new ISO but got stuck again when Cortana asked for options. Now I’m trying to install from the same USB that worked before, but it freezes on a black screen after accepting. My idea is to get another bootable USB or, if that fails, format both HDD and SSD on my friend’s computer. Thanks for your help!
The last line says: "got the rest through Google Translate but I can't read the last bit."
You've attempted to convert the USB drive to NTFS format and then use the provided Microsoft tool for installation.
That’s the approach you took before. If a new bootable USB doesn’t work due to lingering issues from the previous Windows setup, formatting both the SSD and HDD on your friend’s machine could help reset things. Then trying Windows 10 installation on the SSD again might succeed. It should work if done correctly.
If you have no data to lose and the license key is safely saved, you can at least attempt it. Prepare everything first by creating a fresh bootable USB. If you can't use a PC, try a live CD or connect it via SATA to another machine using an adapter and format it that way. For these setups, I usually carry a USB with a minimal OS like Linux or a bootable CD.
