Hello everyone, I'm preparing to buy my first home and have been thinking about installing Ethernet throughout the house. I'm considering switching to a mesh Wi-Fi system such as ASUS Mesh. I know both options have advantages and disadvantages, but I'd like to hear what others experienced when they made similar decisions. The property is a three-story building, so wiring it for Ethernet would likely cover the living room and gaming area. I also host a Plex server along with a few other devices, and I'm unsure if this will significantly affect performance since my usage isn't heavy right now. I stream 4K content from my Plex server, but I haven't used a mesh network before, so I'm not sure how much it would impact that. If I go with a mesh network, can devices simply connect to each router via Ethernet? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

For a dependable and swift connection across all your devices, use a traditional router with a switch or AP setup. This approach works well when handling heavy data transfers within your local network. Because you can configure it correctly from the beginning, sticking to this method is recommended. If running cables isn't feasible, a mesh system offers ease of use. You won't always get the best speeds, especially on WiFi, but you'll enjoy broader coverage than with limited connections.
