Hello, I just completed a new setup and encountered an issue with my HQ272PPB 27" 2k monitor only showing 1080p. I updated the BIOS, installed the latest drivers, and connected everything via DP cables from my GPU to the monitor. I attempted to configure the resolution in AMD Adrenaline, but it reported an error: "Custom resolution settings not compatible." I also tried CRU, which displayed the desired resolution in detailed settings, yet it didn’t appear after a restart. Interestingly, my previous system with an older GTX 1060 ran 2k smoothly, so this 6800 seems to be having trouble. System details: Windows 10 Pro M.2, 32GB GDDR5 main drive, HQ272PPB monitor, AMD 6800 GPU, AMD 7700X CPU, MSI B650 Tomahawk motherboard, CX750W PCIe X, and a standard PSU.

Have you considered trying a different DP cable?

Ive ordered a new one, should arrive in a couple days. Was just wondering if this could be due to something unrelated to the cable. Bit curious as to why CRU isn't working. Perhaps its not working due to the old DP cable?

A new cable was delivered ahead of schedule this morning, and replacing it instantly resolved the issue. Looking back, I believe the previous cable was quite old—possibly around seven years.

Yeah. Sometimes the cable just breaks when you're using it. I bought it, unpacked it, didn't move it, and then suddenly it failed. Took me a week to replace it by accident. Totally strange. Hope your problem gets fixed!
