Setting up MacOS assistance
I'm setting up macOS on a Z68 Extreme3 Zen3 board with one 8GB stick using Corsair Vengeance DDR3 RAM and an i5 2500K. I can access the installation files, but my internal drives aren't showing up in the installer—only in BIOS, yet they won't install. I've tried wiping the drive, reformatting it with macOS Extended Journaled, and mounting it on an external USB where it appears but still fails to install. Anyone have ideas?
It’s likely your system relies on a SATA controller, but macOS doesn’t identify it. When installing macOS on non-official hardware, setting SATA Mode to AHCI in your BIOS is crucial—other settings won’t work. Many boards used just one controller for regular tasks and another for RAID setups.
