Setting up Clover on an existing Mac with macOS Mojave.
Setting up Clover on an existing Mac with macOS Mojave.
I've been keen on getting into macOS, so I set up a VM on my Win7 laptop and now want to dual boot it with Mojave. I won't be using Windows 10 because its updates are hard to control and it doesn't run smoothly on my machine. I'll be using the same disk but with different partitions. I downloaded macOS Mojave from the App Store to make a bootable USB, but ended up using a patch to create it. It was formatted as macOS extended journaled, but I didn’t realize about Clover at the time. Now I’m thinking if I can fit Clover into the bootable Mojave USB so I can save the time I spent. P.S., don’t worry about my EFI partition—I think Windows made it look like 300MB by accident. Feel free to check my partition layout and use your Snipping Tool skills.
Yes, it is because I shared during a period when most people are resting. Can you assist?
You can easily drag and drop the clover files onto your installation media, but setting everything up will be a challenge. OSX may require you to format that section of the drive carefully, so avoid formatting everything. You’ll also need to adjust your boot priorities to point to the clover partition unless you’re manually selecting partitions each time. This process is tough and not straightforward. It’s not a simple task and could fail depending on your hardware. I strongly advise against trying it unless you’re experienced. Consider checking the Tonymac86 forums for advice if you really want to proceed.
I've already made the move, my friend. SMBIOS is set up, kexts are ready and Clover is on the first USB partition created via the Clover Configurator on my high Sierra VM. Mojave is on the second partition. Feeling frustrated since my USB isn't booting, I checked the AIO forum and copied the Clover ISO contents onto my hard disk's EFI partition (300MB). Even then it didn't work. I showed my BIOS the EFI file of Clover to start, but it still won't boot. I just need to see if the config.plist file is correct. Tonymacx and other forums don't have my issue—they just boot normally with Clover. Can you help or point me to the right place for this problem?
Updated: I managed to get clover working (good news) but it only runs in legacy BIOS, not UEFI. Even when I shared the EFI file from the USB boot folder, it still restarts to the boot options. Still, I can access clover and run into another issue—my macOS installation isn’t visible anywhere. Checking some forum discussions suggests the apfs.efi file might be missing from the driver64 and driver64UEFI directories, but those aren’t present. I’m not making progress yet, but I’ll keep updating soon.
