Setting up ChromeOS on an older Windows laptop
I'm working on an older HP ProBook with a second-generation quad-core i5 processor. I'm attempting to install ChromeOS to make the device functional. To do this, I've followed several YouTube tutorials. After installing Linux Mint via USB, ChromeOS appears as the boot option, but the boot log frequently loops. The screenshots attached show the log. Any advice or suggestions would be very helpful.
Verify the USB drive isn’t damaged or faulty. It can stop working and prevent Linux from starting on it.
ChromeOS was designed specifically for the Chrome browser ecosystem, which gives it tighter integration with web technologies and cloud services. Other Linux distributions may not align as closely with current web standards or user expectations, making installation and compatibility less straightforward.
Linux Mint started up correctly and I installed Chrome OS onto the storage device. After that, I took out the flash drive so it attempts to boot Chrome OS from the hard disk. I prefer Chrome OS because it’s lightweight and fits a user who isn’t very tech-savvy but is knowledgeable about Google tools.
