I'm working on the new MBO and noticed the dimm layout. The picture you shared suggests the release hitch is available only on one side. This seems unusual—standard setups usually offer both sides. The manual mentions two sides being released, so please confirm if this matches your experience.

The manual shows outdated information; even my AM3+ chips seem to be single-sided latches. With two DIMMs, you should align them with the correct slots on the board—insert the bottom one closest to the GPU first, then secure the top one (at least that’s how I do it).

Indeed, several suppliers offer this. Honestly, I prefer it more: fewer moving components mean less chance of breaking the manual. The document is quite standard.
