Hello. Your first build is complete and you've already seen that most of your RAM (2x8GB) is being used during gaming. You're considering upgrading to 2x16GB, wondering if the same brand and speed (like G SKILL Trident Z 3200) would work with your current setup. Or what could go wrong—like not booting at all? You're aware they advise against mixing RAM types, but you're curious about compatibility. Thanks for checking!

It should function properly. If you decide to purchase it, it's safe to experiment using what you already have. The best case is you swap your existing RAM for the new ones.

You're considering whether to upgrade to faster RAM or stick with your current setup. The Trident Z 3600 offers a higher price point at $180 compared to the 3200 model for $130, but it also has different timing specifications. Both models have similar CAS latency, though the 3600 runs at a higher frequency range. It might be worth evaluating if the performance gains justify the cost, especially since your current RAM is already 8GB. If you're unsure, feel free to ask for more details!

Do you own Intel or AMD? If Intel has a 3200 MHz, but Ryzen offers faster RAM, that could still make a difference. That’s all I know about RAM right now—I can’t go into the details too much. But I’m not sure it’ll really matter.

Considering the Intel i5 9600k, it might be wiser to stick with the $50 and explore an alternative. Thank you for your input.

I would maintain the same pace and enhance what already exists; adding a speed bump wouldn't improve overall capacity.
