I'm planning to upgrade my dad's old PC with a new build. The current machine is from 2005, runs basic web browsing and YouTube, no gaming, so only 8GB RAM needed. It will have a Ryzen CPU and just two PCIe slots for the motherboard. I'm considering dual-channel configuration or going with a single 8GB stick for future expansion. Which option would be more suitable?

Charge for the 2x4gb option. You'd get faster performance, and if you don't upgrade, it'll be even better.

If he maintains it that way, simply add 2x4GB modules. When an upgrade becomes necessary, a full platform switch will be required.
