She wants a PC to play games with me. Right away I gathered everything I could from what I already owned, since I didn’t have much money. I got a case, power supply, RAM, GPU, CPU, and a custom HP motherboard. Most of the setup was straightforward except for getting power into the board. The chipset uses these special P1 and P2 connectors to get power and talk to the PSU. I searched online for ways to adapt a standard 24-pin connector to work as P1 and P2. I found a guide from an Indian developer and tried it, but it didn’t work. No matter what I did, the PC wouldn’t start. I can feel the green wire (the power signal) and see a 5V rail working, yet there’s just a black screen. I’ve tried re-seating everything, using the built-in VGA output, but nothing changed. I haven’t reset the CMOS while it boots, but I pressed the reset button when it was off. I’m really stuck and hope someone can help. Thanks for your effort.

No, the question asks if you want to describe the parts or if it's part of the challenge.

I've worked with this before, but it turns out it's not really a good deal. You can find used last-gen components, especially AM4 chips, at very reasonable prices these days. Early AM4 models are also starting to appear on the used market now, and they're not too cheap.

Sure thing. Losing the chance unless you're good at electrical work—just grab a decent used motherboard. Does your girlfriend have no income or funds to invest in this project?

There are affordable adapters available to link the PSU cables to the motherboard.

It's tough, especially since neither of us has a job right now. We've been thinking about getting used items, but I don't even have enough cash for that. That's why we're focusing on making it work with the stuff we already have.

It seems like you're facing a tough situation financially. I'm not sure if I can find anything under $40, even though I thought about it. It's a solid plan and much more feasible than what I currently have, but it's probably the best option available to me.

I had a complete draft prepared, but it isn't my responsibility to highlight any issues. If you need changes, just let me know. *smiles* Good luck!

I understand your concern but previous attempts often lead to damage or wasted effort. Take extra care, use a multimeter, and check online guides to ensure compatibility. This way, you avoid costly mistakes and keep your investment intact.
