I purchased a nearly identical system for my sister—same motherboard, Ryzen 7 5800X, Corsair 850PSU, etc. The only change was her GPU is a 3060 while mine uses a 3070. When I powered it up after installation, the PSU didn’t activate, no fans, and no power at all. My friend tested her new PSU and said it failed, so we exchanged hers for a replacement at Best Buy. But even with the new one, it still wouldn’t power on. We then tried connecting my old PSU to hers; it worked perfectly—lights came on, fans spun, everything normal. We ran tests comparing both PSUs, and mine tested 280 PG while the newer ones showed 80 PG. Is it possible we just got unlucky with these new units, or is there another reason they’re not working? I’m really puzzled because my current PSU seems to work fine.

It's unlikely, but having two issues in a row could point to manufacturing problems. I'd pick another brand this time. It seems the quality control team isn't meeting expectations. For instance, my 5900X has mostly worked well after fixing RAM stability, but sometimes I still face a no-video POST when power completely drops. The cause is unclear, but it might be a failing PSU that's not showing issues properly. Updated Feb 18, 2023 by An0maly_76
