Hello! For your friend's laptop with an i7-3610QM processor, the system architecture matters. Since Intel states it supports 64-bit instructions but the RAM is only 4GB, you should install a 64-bit version of Windows 10 to fully utilize the hardware. A 32-bit installation won't work properly here.

64-bit architecture. The 32-bit cap is around 3.25GB of memory. He can always upgrade later when needed.
