Earlier this year I used Wireguard on my unRAID server without any problems. After switching ISPs while keeping the same equipment, I still can't connect. I regenerated the keys and confirmed my IP is correct, but the handshake fails and pings don’t work. On the peer side (Windows laptop connected to my guest Wi-Fi for testing), the Wireguard app runs smoothly without errors. I’m trying everything else and need help. The video you mentioned isn’t helping much. Also, I didn’t use DuckDNS.

This problem seems linked to your ISP configuration. Verify you’re not using a CGNAT setup and that UDP ports remain accessible.

I thought as long as my given IP stayed the same, I’d be fine. Turns out yes, Metronet employs CGNAT. What I’m learning suggests it affects port forwarding.

It seems setting up Wireguard might be quite challenging. However, good news—my router’s native OpenVPN feature is working properly. That should give me a solid starting point.

This suggests a misunderstanding about how CG-NAT interacts with OpenVPN. It’s improbable that the two would conflict unless the router provider employs an expensive relay solution.

It seems the result depended on the same internet connection. Using a different network won't work. Need some alternative solutions?

Setting up was surprisingly straightforward. It's especially convenient because unRAID includes a built-in plugin.
