Set up Windows 7 on your computer.
I put it in, it functioned properly. Yet after leaving the setup, the USB stick remained installed. When it restarted, it immediately returned to the start. After about half an hour I returned and found myself back at the beginning once more. On the second try it worked faster—within 5 to 15 minutes on the first restart. Removed the USB stick, rebooted again. At startup there was a menu, Windows 7 on top and Windows 7 below. I selected the top one and the process began, taking 30 to 45 minutes or less, running directly at the desktop without drivers. Turned it off. Disconnected the new OS from the USB, then reinserted the original HDD, enabled the Intel network driver on the USB.
1) The bootable USB is only for installing the operating system. If you need installers for drivers, format accordingly. Unless it's USB3 or SATA driver, those can be placed in the OS installer.
2/3) You installed it twice. Verify if the second one has files on the SSD—likely not. You can remove it from the boot menu manually if you don’t want to see that option.
