I connected the link. Now I need to set up port forwarding. I’m not sure how to do that yet.

Yes, that's correct. You should be able to reach it from another device on your local network. Then proceed to set up a port forward on your router.

You can't access the server from your current setup, whether on the VM or your PC. For port forwarding, you'll need to check the correct IP address and port details—usually found in your router settings or device configuration. Look for guidance on how to map the right numbers so it works properly.

It works across different PCs on your local network. Bridges may block host-to-VM connections, so you need to forward ports on your router.

hosting in the cloud isn't really possible because I require a fast USB serial connection. I'll keep it straightforward. The steps match exactly what I'm trying to achieve—he did it, I can too. There are specific numbers in the instructions that should be placed in the port forwarding window. My IP addresses and ports are identical to those listed.

What is your intention? Are you trying to connect externally? To enable external access, you must adjust the router settings. For local network use, configuring it as a bridge is appropriate. Port forwarding doesn’t seem necessary in this case.

the key is understanding that a bridged connection isn't functioning properly, and I'm unsure of the exact steps. I only want to connect to the web server on my local network, but I'm confused about the port forwarding process. Could you clarify what you're seeing in the port forwarding window? from what I understand, it's about adjusting access levels. It makes sense that virtual box should route traffic from your local network to the internet, but I need more guidance on how to proceed.
