there’s another way to set up dual booting. you can keep both windows 8.1 and windows 10 running side by side without forcing one over the other. just make sure your installation media is set up correctly, and consider using a boot manager or system settings tweaks to maintain stability. since steam is ending support, it’s smart to stick with what you have while still having both OSes available.

I get why you’d prefer sticking with 8.1 over 10—it feels like a waste of potential. With 10 there’s so much more to explore. Dual booting means either resizing your boot partition or adding another drive, which can be tricky and less convenient. A virtual machine is an option, but it usually doesn’t support gaming well.

Consider running it locally on your setup. Proxmox allows you to create virtual versions of both systems. For dual booting Windows, refer to the guide at the provided link.
