I’m experiencing internet issues with my Vodafone Gigacube 5G setup. It needs to stay in a particular room for optimal speed around 150Mbit, but the signal drops and slows down in both my office and bedroom since they’re close together. In the office there’s a wired connection from the cube, but I’m considering switching to a wireless option if possible—maybe a switch with built-in Wi-Fi instead of a separate device. Looking ahead, we’ll be installing fiber with 1Gbit speeds later this year, which should handle it better and possibly at a lower cost. Having three LAN ports (one in, two out) would work well for my current setup.

Many routers available in stores today support this feature. However, I recommend checking out the specific product before purchasing. Older models from the bottom of the shelf often lack it or make it difficult to use.

Understand the additional LAN ports available. If you have a spare power outlet nearby, Powerline is a good choice. You can connect them to an extension lead, though that’s not recommended. Keep your home as the central network hub. The issue arises when you need to link more than 2-3 devices—then you might just move them elsewhere. I’d suggest Powerline might not be the best choice. Its performance relies a lot on your home’s electrical setup, and having an existing Ethernet connection could make it less necessary.

We attempted the powerline installation a few years back and faced some issues. It might be related to our existing wiring or the unknown products we used.
