I'm working on moving port 1194 forward to allow VPN access from your old PC. Despite adjusting settings and testing with different configurations, the firewall on your router still blocks it. The issue seems to be consistent across various port numbers, but manual rules aren't resolving the problem. You mentioned your ISP might be blocking ports, which could explain why PPTP works on your Asus router.

These devices allocate specific ports for their needs. Using a higher number avoids conflicts and ensures proper communication.

You'd need to attempt to discover it. But it should function, correct?

No, the VPN isn't running on your device during port forwarding. You can verify by checking the status or using a tool to see if it's open.
