I've been considering dual booting Linux alongside Windows. I have some basic Linux experience with Ubuntu and Debian-based systems using WSL. I'm curious about which distro to choose—Linux Mint, Manjaro, or Arch Linux? Thanks for the guidance!

You're thinking about your Linux setup. Are you interested in Debian-style distributions or something more Arch-based? Do you prefer having full control over your system, or do you want it to run smoothly without much hassle?

Mint, Manjaro, and Arch have their own appeal. Everyone picks what suits them best. Ultimately, it depends on personal preference since they all share similar functionality but vary in style. The best way to discover what you enjoy is by testing them yourself. If you're not ready for a full installation, create a few virtual machines with your preferred distributions to explore.

Thanks for considering using it in a VM. I plan to test the distributions there so I can be sure.

Some individuals adopt Arch without prior Linux experience. Others stick with Linux for several years but may lack the necessary skills or time to maintain Arch. Success depends not only on experience but also on abilities and the investment of time in addressing challenges. Below are various Linux distributions and their key advantages: Manjaro, Fedora, KDE Neon – offer fresh software and are favored by gamers. Mint – very intuitive interface, though with slightly outdated applications. Arch – popular among gamers, supports new software and runs efficiently. Mint – highly user-friendly, but may feel dated. Arch – great for gamers, lightweight and modern. NixOS – more complex to set up, but delivers exceptional stability after updates. You can transfer configurations across hardware or use them with new systems. Alpine Linux – minimal resource requirements, secure and quick. Clear Linux – top performance, especially in gaming. FreeBSD and NetBSD – strong choices across many areas. They handle older 32-bit systems, provide better network speeds, ZFS works faster and more reliably on FreeBSD than on Linux. FreeBSD excels in audio quality, while pkg is a dependable package manager. bhyve offers strong virtualization solutions. Jails provide enhanced security compared to Docker. FreeBSD remains the most stable platform, supports robust databases, and offers a consistent configuration throughout the system. FreeBSD alerts users about security risks, whereas Debian does not. PF firewall is simpler to configure and performs better than typical Linux firewalls. PF also outperforms most Linux firewall solutions.
