Set up a Linux primary system with a Windows 10 installation for dual booting.
The Linux God from those videos is a bit confusing. I really enjoy pop culture, but some of my games aren't working properly or seem forced to function. Even though I spend over eight hours coding, it's amazing for what I can do, and I don’t want to give up. I’m currently in the middle of switching OSes—installing Windows 10 and setting up dual boot—but I still need to keep working. I’m trying to dual boot Windows, but things aren’t going as planned. I’ve tried everything, but I haven’t backed up my projects yet. (I know I should, but I just need someone to help me out. There are definitely people who could save me from this backup nightmare.)
Your message is unclear. I think you're asking about your data setup. Are you using Windows without Pop! installed yet? Do you have any backups and don't want to make copies? (Why would you do that?) Another possible point: you might have your work on Pop! but haven't installed it yet, and you're facing compatibility problems with games—so you also want Windows without backups. (Why?) I forgot to ask about the number of storage devices and which OS will be your main or secondary system. Also, just to clarify, do you only need Windows for gaming? Edited July 27, 2020 by Saksham
Checking the software currently running on your machine. Is it Linux or Windows?
You should try a different drive—it’ll simplify the process a lot
I'm on a comparable setup. My system runs Ubuntu 18.04 with CUDA enabled, and I don't wish to repeat that process. I have dedicated NVMe/SSD storage reserved solely for Windows use. I'm seeking methods to isolate everything without disrupting my current Linux partitions. So far, no straightforward solution involving two drives has emerged. Any suggestions or detailed instructions would be greatly appreciated. For reference, this build is available at https://pcpartpicker.com/b/RwBbt6. I currently have two 6TB and a 12TB HDD plus a 1TB NVMe drive (Ubuntu 18.04). My goal is to keep Windows operations confined to the new NVMe/SSD partition, suitable for light gaming.
