It’s likely the system will consume a significant amount of power, which could hurt your power bill. You’re looking for modem-only mode. This turns off NAT, DCHP, DNS, and all router features, leaving just the modem active. Dual NAT is possible and usually works well in most scenarios.

We’re using a flat rate plan and it’s working fine. From the forums, modern mode makes it a self-contained DOCSIS3 modem. The double NAT is unclear, but there’s a DMZ zone option—could help separate your PFS device?

NAT allows a router to assign one internet address to several devices. When two routers are connected in sequence, this creates double NAT. It may lead to problems with certain software and games because it complicates proper port forwarding. Simply move the device from the ISP box to the modem-only box and it should work better.
