Hey everyone, I recently got a 4090 for a while. It was a lucky find at the store—only one left, and I was just 300 miles away from a microcenter. I set it up for in-store pickup before they opened, and guess what? It worked perfectly! The price was a bit steep (around two grand), but I think it’s worth it. I have a 6700XT in the middle slot and a Quadro 4000 at the bottom. The 4090 is on the top PCIe lane. The issue I faced was that when I used the GPU info overlay with alt+r, it displayed stats for my Quadro instead of the 4090. This seems like a common problem, so I looked it up extensively. I’m currently on the newest drivers and installed the Quadro first, then the 4090. Many people on forums and even AI tools suggest going into the control panel, 3D settings, and adjusting the primary GPU. I don’t have that option or many alternatives, so I assume it’s a different version of the app. It’s clear the 4090 handles rendering, especially at high settings—like 5120x1440 with big textures and 24GB VRAM. It can easily hit 90–200+ FPS. That’s likely because the game supports a high FPS overlay. I also noticed the fan speed reading was off, probably because my card is in a custom waterblock with the fan disconnected. If I had two NVIDIA GPUs, I’d want the overlay to prioritize my 4090 for info. I don’t have anything connected, just a setup meant for GPU and compute tasks—maybe that helps in games. If not, the 4090 is pretty powerful. Thanks for the tips!
