Good day all,
I worked with a client whose Lenovo server is running Server 2019 standard. The goal is to upgrade the drives to SSDs, using a Lenovo RAID card managed by Lenovo XClarity Provisioning Manager. My initial attempts at cloning and installing failed, so I’m considering a straightforward reinstall of the OS with the new drives on Raid1. Since I haven’t used RAID much recently, I want to confirm my approach is sound.

The server runs 2019 standard, HyperV with four virtual servers (two 2019, one 10, and one 2008, which will be decommissioned soon).

Plan:
1. Export the virtual servers to an external drive.
2. Install SSDs, enter LXPM, assign drives to Raid1, then reinstall the 2019 OS.
3. Reinstall Hyper-V import virtual servers.

Questions:
1. Does the server OS require burning the OS license for BIOS like versions 10 and 11? Would I need a new product key? Can I locate the current key?
2. I searched online about Hyper-V licensing – it seems yes or no. Where would I find accurate licensing details for Hyper-V?
3. Any additional tips?

It sounds too simple! Thanks.

Advice: Abandon raid 1 and focus on establishing a reliable backup system. Raid 1 targets a rare drive failure, with an MTBF potentially exceeding one million hours.

I have drive imaging set up. The system generates and captures an image each night.

It appears you're well safeguarded without raid. Even without it, you remain at risk from raid card issues or accidental deletions. Given the extremely long lifespan of an SSD, adding raid 1 offers only minimal defense.
