Server setup for NAS and NASSOLUTION on Linux Platform: Server Software: nas, nassolution, linux
Hello everyone, I'm seeking assistance regarding home server setups. After six months using WD Home Duo, I decided to explore a more advanced solution. The performance of this WD NAS is quite slow, and the software feels outdated. I'm comfortable building a server PC but need guidance on the best tools or methods. My requirements are: 1) access from both my home network and any internet-connected location; 2) the ability to sync folders directly from Windows Explorer (Windows 10) — SCREENSHOOT-1; 3) a right-click option in Win10 to synchronize with the server, so that after syncing, files added or removed on my PC automatically update on the server — SCREENSHOOT-2. Thank you in advance for your support.
How much storage do you require? A standard box running Freenas or Unraid can handle this easily and the setup is straightforward. Build a basic desktop and run one of those operating systems. For WAN connections, consider using Nextcloud or a VPN.
You need 4-8TB right now. Did you intend to test this? The link provided appears to be for the Freenas release. Does it include all the features you require?
