It seems to be a standard setup. Check search results or ask the administrator for the correct credentials. Deployments usually use predefined usernames and passwords.

*username* is pressing enter before typing the username
*enter* the correct details carefully
*password* may be "Ubuntu" — try resetting it

The VM was installed using a pre-made image rather than a custom installer. If it had a different username or password, it would likely have been set during the image creation process. You might need to locate the creator or check any notes for the password. There doesn’t seem to be a default login for Ubuntu Server as you recalled.
