I recently converted my old desktop into a NAS using a Z97 Pro Wifi AC motherboard. I installed Windows Server 2016 Datacenter from a free copy at university. The mix of consumer parts and the server software has caused my LAN port to stop working. Anyone have suggestions for generic drivers or troubleshooting steps? If not, I’d appreciate recommendations for a PCIE-based network card that would suit me. Thanks.

Server 2016 can be quite tricky with consumer hardware. It's likely you won't have it functioning properly with your built-in network card. Intel and Broadcom chipsets generally receive good support, but there are exceptions.

It functions properly since my setup uses an Asus Z97-A, and it worked during the Server 2016 DataCenter test. The Windows 10 drivers should be compatible.
