Hello, I've got a server board here. Before putting it together, I tested and ran it—everything worked fine so far. It's a nice dual socket S5520HC with one Xeon X5675 CPU currently installed. I swapped the PSU fan for a Noctua model and kept the same 4-pin connector. Now, after reassembly, when I press the power button, the fans pulse once. Then it goes completely silent for about two minutes before emitting diagnostic beeps. The issue is that the beep codes are unclear. The pattern looks like 1 5 1 — 3 — which could mean 4 instead of 1-3. According to Intel, the first two beeps are faster than the rest. There seem to be two similar codes related to power issues. I'm not sure what they mean exactly. If you need, I can record a video of it beeping after swapping the CPU quickly, but it still pulls the BIOS battery without any response after resetting... anyone have any suggestions? System failure detected. It does not start or shut down as expected. A power supply unit exists but conflicts with other units in the setup. Refer to code 1-5-1-4. Consider using a different PSU.
It was actually the PSU that caused the issue. I assumed the board wouldn't boot without the special *aux power* cable, but it did. I'm not sure if this would work with two CPUs. Also, I noticed the CPU 2 fan header has no power connection (only one 8-pin plug is attached).
