I faced some problems and it seems one of the memory modules was faulty. Since I know I’ll need to swap it anyway, I thought it might be worth checking if there’s a way to improve things. My setup includes a Ryzen 9 5950x, 6900xt processor, an Asus Tuff Gaming X570-Plus (Wi-Fi) with two 16GB sticks at 3200MHz, and two Corsair Vengeance RAM units (16-18-20-36 MHz). I mainly use the computer for gaming. I’m not very experienced and tried to research but felt a bit confused, so I’m hesitant to spend money on something that might not help. I found these options but am open to suggestions: Corsair Vengeance RGB CMN32GX4M2Z3600C16 (2x16GB, 3600MHz) for £119.99, Corsair Vengeance RGB CMN32GX4M2Z4600C18 (2x16GB, 4600MHz) for £214, Kingston Fury Renegade KF436C16RB1K2/32 (2x16GB, 3600MHz) for £99, G.Skill Trident Z NEO RGB F4-4000C18D-32GTZN (2x16GB, 4000MHz) for £143.80.

For a tight budget, the Kingston setup is the best choice—especially compared to Corsair Vengeance models that often clash with Ryzen. G.Skill could work, but you might face trouble getting it to hit 2000MHz.

Thank you for your feedback. Corsair Vengeance is generally stable, but some users report minor issues at higher speeds. The G.Skill is a good investment as it fits within your budget. At 2000MHz it can work well; dropping to 1900MHz if needed is possible. Regarding RAM, focusing on "AMD optimized" or "AMD ready" options is beneficial, but you don’t have to limit yourself—other options exist too.

I've discovered the Crucial Ballistix BL2K16G36C16U4BL with 2x16GB storage priced at £125. Would exploring used memory be a suitable option?

At the moment, using two DIMMs shouldn’t lead to any instability. The system isn’t under much pressure when running four DIMMs, and Ryzen tends to have issues with Corsair Vengeance. Most Ryzen chips don’t perform well with this RAM, except in rare cases. It depends on the specific chip if your 5950X can hit 2000MHz. You might need to lower it to 1900 or 1800MHz manually and run stress tests to confirm there are no problems. Check the motherboard’s QVL for compatibility before buying a kit. If you’re unsure, try installing the sticks and see if the system boots and runs smoothly. Use tools like Cinebench or Prime95 to check for freezes or crashes. If everything works after 30 minutes, it’s likely stable. For reliability, consider Crucial Ballistix—they offer tighter timings compared to the others you mentioned. Generally, RAM works or it doesn’t; if it causes freezes or memory errors, it won’t boot at all. If your country has strong consumer protections and a transferable warranty, go ahead with confidence.

I just wanted to express my sincere gratitude for your assistance—it really simplified things. I checked the QVL list, which I wasn’t aware of until your message, and began browsing through it until I discovered a suitable memory that matched the price with its performance. It helped me locate a G.Skill Trident Z F4-3600C17D-32GTZ - 2x16GB 3600MHz (priced around £128). After reviewing everything you mentioned, it seems like a smart decision since it appeared on the QVL, offered high stability, and had reasonable timing without being overly costly. I also considered another option from the QVL, but I’m unsure if the price difference would justify it.

I’d choose the G.Skill Trident Z F4-3600C17D-32GTZ kit over the Ballistix one because it’s listed on the QVL. The price difference isn’t worth it, and you can likely improve the timings in your post by using just two DIMMs instead of four on the more expensive model.
