Hey everyone, I'm starting this discussion by asking for your thoughts since I'm gathering a lot of external feedback. I'm thinking about overhauling my PC—except for the 2080 Ti, which I think I'll swap out with a Hopper—by building a dual-loop setup. Your opinion might be useful, even if my question feels a bit early. Would it make sense to begin with the upcoming Zen 3 CPUs, or should I hold off until the AM5 socket update (or possibly the next Intel generation) with DDR5 support? Keeping my 4790K in mind for now could help ensure it stays future-proof. Thanks in advance for your advice!

Do you require the performance immediately? Yes, proceed to Zen 3. No need now—consider AM5 or Intel 11th generation later.

AM5 and the 11th generation Intel desktop aren't here yet. I don't think AM5 will arrive for another year, and the 11th gen Intel for a few months more.

It seems the next 5900x will likely offer a much better upgrade compared to my current CPU, providing sufficient performance for the tasks I need. My main worry is investing in a costly project and potentially ending up with a socket that only supports this new CPU, forcing me to replace the motherboard, CPU, and RAM along with water blocks whenever upgrades become necessary.
