Hello everyone, I'm planning to upgrade to 32GB of RAM since my current 8GB isn't enough. I own an Asus ROG Strix X370-F gaming laptop with a Ryzen 7 1700 processor. I'm seeking a reliable RAM package. I've checked these two options: one from Corsair and another from a different seller. Both claim to run at 3200 MHz and look good. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
I would choose AMD certified RAM from G-Skill. Right now I’m using Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 with 32GB in two 16GB modules. It performed perfectly at full speed. Before that, I had the Corsair Vengeance LPX 3600 with the same configuration but it didn’t reach full speed. I had to limit the 3600 to 3000 MHz. Corsair RAM isn’t certified for AMD systems. Many others have shared similar complaints about Corsair RAM for AMD builds.
This Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro model features optimized memory performance. It stands apart from other versions of this RAM. Both units are listed in the motherboard's supported memory section, though I'm not sure if that covers everything. The reviews for this key component were very positive, with users noting it achieved fast speeds.
I assessed the RAM compatibility and discovered the essential part wasn't suitable. I searched for a GSKill kit but didn't locate a 16GB x 2 model supporting up to 3000 or 3200 MHz. I found two Kingston Hyper X models that meet those specs. While I favor a 16x2 setup, an 8x4 option remains acceptable. I also appreciate the chance to upgrade with more RAM later. I thought I was doing this but it seems the 16x2 isn't listed in the manual, only 8x4. I wanted to add more RAM later, so having 16x2 made sense. Eventually I went with the Corsair RGB Pro and it's working well at 3200 MHz.
