I'm mainly planning 4K gaming, some video work, photo editing, and a custom loop will be part of the setup.

You're thinking about 4K gaming, so the Ryzen 7 3700X would be a better pick because it focuses more processing power on the GPU. It's also great for rendering and editing tasks. What model of GPU are you using?

Haha, yeah 4K is tough on my phone and it keeps switching to 4L. But I’ve got a 2080 model!

Good for 4K resolution. The Ryzen 7 3700X performs well in games. Switching to the Ryzen 9 3900X with Ryzen Master lets you disable four cores to match the 3700X, then boost performance. Because the 3900X offers more cache and higher GPU speeds, it will handle games better when overclocked. The 3900X can get very hot, so turning off four cores for gaming and then overclocking is a smart approach.
