Seeking tips for finding a new WiFi antenna.
Greetings I have ASUS TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS WIFI and today I found out that my dear cat found interesting back of the pc and decided to bite trough antenna cable :S. Cat is fine but antenna is not lol. What are my option and what should i look for ? First i was thinking to just tape it together with electrical tape bum im not sure if its gonna work or if i can mess things up in case i go not get cables paired correctly. 2nd idea was to look for similar antenna as i had, it have 2 screw in connections but im unsure what to look for or beware of. This might be stupid question but Id rather ask just to be on the safe side
I purchased this because the descriptions on the sites about male/female connections are confusing. They all seem to fit the usual setup. It performs just like the original, and the cable is longer which helps position them better. It seems you managed to cut the cables down to the main wires and secure them with twist ties and tape. It worked for now, and I’m on full bars. I’ll look into recommended options later. It looks more costly in Europe, and I haven’t found any nearby stores—Amazon will have to wait here in the EU for a while. Sadly, this is the only place I found it.
If it functions, don't stress too much. Since this is the client machine rather than the origin of the wireless radio, employ a directional Wi-Fi antenna to connect with your router. Why? Does your Wi-Fi router hover over you? Does it move around the house and scan the space? It likely stays in one fixed spot. So why opt for omnidirectional antennas when you're close and aware of the signal's path? Use a high-gain (not omnidirectional) directional antenna with a gain of at least 9-15 dB. The higher the better, especially when you're near the source. You'll experience quicker speeds and a more powerful wireless link, rather than broadcasting your signal in every direction that standard antennas do.
I’m not familiar with any particular brands, nor do I rely on directional antennas. However, this setup tends to perform better when connecting to a stationary location. If you already have an antenna in place, use it. For increased bandwidth over greater distances, consider switching to a directional antenna.
